A new Premier League record for consecutive away victories isn't set without a range of qualities and following the weekend win at West Brom, Chelsea players discussed how to travel well.

The 3-0 victory at The Hawthorns was the 10th league away victory since a 4-4 draw at Tottenham back in March - but until José Bosingwa's superb 33rd minute opening, the Blues didn't have it all our own way.

'We knew it was going to be difficult and we knew that Liverpool had already won so we had to win as well,' said John Mikel Obi who was back anchoring the midfield having begun the Burnley game on the bench.

'But we kept passing the ball around. West Brom were a team that wanted to play football as well so it was quite difficult in the first 20 minutes - but after the first goal it became much easier for us.'

'We soaked up a lot of their pressure early on and hit them on the counter-attack with three great goals,' agreed John Terry.

'Our foreign lads understand that in games like this, in the early minutes you are going to be put under a lot of pressure with some tough challenges. Thankfully we have a squad of players who are willing to dig in deep as well as play the football they can.

'That comes from the spine of the team maybe, myself and Lamps passing that on to the other lads,' the captain suggested. 'We are no pushover and when teams want to get the ball down and play, we are still a match for anybody.'

Terry explained he was forced off in the closing stages after feeling a sharp pain at the bottom of his foot after landing awkwardly when pushed mid-air. He hopes to be cleared to join up with England.

'Our home form, which has been fantastic over a number of years has not been as good as it should have been, but thankfully our away form has been spot on and we have been dogged,' he continued.

'We play fantastic football,' added Mikel. 'The manager wants us to pass the ball around and by doing this, we create lots of chances for Nicolas Anelka to score goals.

'He is on fire. He has all the confidence in the world at the moment and the manager is getting the best out of him. The midfield is trying to support him and with the midfield we have, he is only going to score goals.'

Anelka scored seven times in the 10 away games and is the name on everyone's lips at the moment.

'I used to hate playing against him,' Terry admitted. 'It was always a problem him playing on your shoulder with his pace, and he's a good finisher as well.

'Here the quality of our players out wide gives him the chance to play between the two centre-halves who are getting stretched all the time by our wide men.'

It's a weekend that has ended with Chelsea still level on points with Liverpool and eight ahead of Man United who have played a game less. We have pulled a further three points clear of defeated Arsenal who are nine off the top. The Gunners come to the Bridge in a fortnight.

'Never write off the big sides because they have got the players and will put a run together,' states Terry

'We have still got to go there as well as they come to the Bridge and we need to make sure we get six points from those games.

'We have had the experience of chasing Man United the last couple of years and it does get to you in the end if the team at the top keeps winning. We have an advantage in our goal difference too if we can keep scoring goals.'
